The Tall Plumber’s top tips

  • When you seal your bath, make sure you fill it with water first (and leave the water in for 24 hours) otherwise, the weight of the water will break the seal.
  • When potting plants, fill the bottom of the pot with gravel to increase the drainage and prevent the pot from toppling over.
  • It is recommended that taps conform to a standard format. Cold taps are on the right, and hot taps are on the left. An easy way to remember this is ‘it’s always right cold in England, never right hot!’
  • Make sure metal is painted with red oxide first to prevent rusting.
  • Joinery is easier if you make sure your tools are kept sharp
  • Seal newly rendered walls with stabiliser before painting.
